Our story
Wright Building Group was founded with a clear goal: to do things differently and to do them right.
After years on the tools as a carpenter and then a partner in a building company, Ben saw firsthand how the building experience could fall short for clients. Budget blowouts, poor communication, and rushed workmanship were far too common, and clients were the ones left frustrated.
Driven to raise the standard, Ben launched Wright Building Group in 2020 with the simple philosophy of being upfront, being involved, and never compromising on quality.
What started as a solo operation has grown into a trusted, full-service building company known for delivering high-end custom homes and boutique developments. But some things haven’t changed—Ben remains hands-on with every project, personally guiding clients through the process and ensuring that no detail is overlooked.
Meet the team
Ben Wright
Director
Ben began his carpentry apprenticeship in 2005, laying the foundation for a career built on craftsmanship and integrity.
In 2014, he launched his own carpentry company, quickly earning a reputation for reliability and quality. By 2017, after witnessing clients become frustrated with poor communication and subpar construction from other builders, Ben was driven to do better. He obtained his domestic building licence and partnered with an experienced builder, gaining invaluable experience across medium to large-scale projects, luxury homes, and multi-residential developments.
In 2020, Ben founded Wright Building Group with a clear vision: to raise the standard in residential construction through quality workmanship and genuine communication. Based in Melbourne, the company works with major developers as well as families looking to build their dream homes. Ben remains hands-on in the business, committed to delivering a transparent, collaborative and high-quality building experience for every client.
Mick Neilly
Operations Manager
With over 20 years of experience in the residential construction industry, Michael (aka Mick) brings a deep understanding of project delivery, operational efficiency, and team leadership to his role as Operations Manager. A graduate of RMIT University with a Bachelor of Applied Science in Construction Management, Mick has a strong foundation in both the technical and strategic aspects of construction.
Throughout his career, Mick has held various positions and has overseen a wide range of residential projects from custom homes, to multi-unit developments, consistently ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards. Mick has a strength in the numbers and prides himself on a pragmatic approach to everything that he does. He has a passion for team work and is always looking to foster strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and consultants.
Driven by a passion for quality building and continuous improvement, Mick plays a key role in shaping company systems, improving workflow processes, and driving growth across all areas of the business.
